		Surveying girls in urban slums

	Be it a metro city like New Delhi or a small town like Dehra Dun, women in India , to a great extent (some surveys say 70%) are suppressed, oppressed and beaten up. Their lives, their dreams, their aspirations mean little to the family and women suffer physical, mental and emotional abuse, more often than not, silently. Saheli is a small effort to make a difference in the lives of women, we started from scratch in April 2013 and today as months have turned into years, we are making a difference. If we can bring smile on the face of even one woman, then all our efforts are worth it. Do join us in helping women lead a dignified, safe and happy life.

Help us build a permanent home for children.

For last 7 years Saheli Trust has been running "Saheli Residence", which is a home for women and girls in distress. The project is funded entirely by individual donors and presently runs in a rented building. Please see this page for more details. With help from many donors, we have bought 230 sq.yds of land in Chandrabani area close to the existing building. We have got approval from Mussorie Dehradun Development Association for a 2 storey building capable of accommodating 25 children. We have an estimated budget of INR 85 lakhs for the construction. We would like to appeal to everyone to help us build a home for our children. The land is & the building will be in the name of Saheli Trust.
